Josh

Happy Birthday Josh!

Beach

This week Rachel pointed out to me that we had not been out to the park or the beach for ages, and she was right. I have been so stressed with money worries and sorting out bedrooms and a new job and … so on. Poor girl she has been a little neglected so we went off to the beach and had a wonderful time. It was hot and the sea was beautiful. Rachel swam about in the rock pool and Josh ate lots of snails.

It was wonderful to get out and have some fresh air and to not think about the work to be done at home. She was quite right it was a good idea. We also saw these pretty things

Blue lizard

Little lizards that eat bluebottle jellyfish.Yum yum.

The boys were so jealous of our trip to the beach that we decided to go for Josh’s birthday. After the church service we took a picnic to the beach and burnt our feet on the hot hot sand and had a wonderful time celebrating the youngest member of the family.

He was shattered and slept through the rest of the afternoon sprouting a tooth at the same time. We had eaten so much cake, or rather myself and the kids had eaten so much cake, the day before so the thought of more for Josh’s birthday was not greeted with cries of delight. We opted for ice cream instead and this little dear decided it looked good in hair!

The great clothes switcheroo

Ah the time has come when I open up a drawer and realise that nothing in it will fit this little man any more…

Josh asleep

This was taken on Thursday after a particularly fun day at playgroup involving lots of mud, water and wood chippings. He was filthy, he was snotty and covered in wheatbix, he was having the best time ever! He came home and fell fast asleep in the car, and was transferred to the cot without a single flutter of an eylid. He was out until it was time to collect the others from school. That gave me time to sort through all of these…

Clothes for Josh

.. to find something which would now fit him. It was a great trip down memory lane, all of these clothes have been worn by some or all of the others and each one has memories of where we were and what we were doing. Now there will be a few more memories and a few more holes to go with them no doubt!

Look what we have done…

No not another baby! This…

Joshs room…the floor.

It has been a great bonding experience for both Pete and I. We are chuffed to bits that it has finally been finished, well almost finished, just two more things to do. What is most important is that Josh is now sleeping in there. The smiles are from ear to ear. It has been a long time coming but he is now in his own room and sleeping through. It is fantastic, wonderful and a sigh of relief is echoing around. To add to that the little dear has now reached the graphs on his weight chart!! How fantastic is that, we are all so pleased. His other achievements are that he is clapping, saying mumumumum, dadadadad, waving byebye and blowing raspberries. Not bad we thought, each day there are more little brain cells connecting. You can see him growing and learning it is fascinating, and very watchable.

We are wizzing through the holidays, George said he can’t believe how fast the days are going, neither can I. Rachel starts preschool next week and my mind is beginning to think about, pencils, rulers, shoes, bags, hats and so on. All the things that need to be done before the school term begins again. Actually I am trying hard not to think about it. I am pretending that it will call go away if I ignore it. Do you think that will work?

There was a wedding in the street last week. Our neighbours daughter Emma married Stu in the garden. It was a beautiful setting, just simply at the bottom of the garden which is looking lush, green and immaculate since they had spent the last few weeks before mowing, pruning, raking and much more. It was a great evening, and our kids were a big hit rolling over the lawn, staining their clean shirts with grass. The party went on into the night but we took the kids home after dinner, which our brave boys sampled with initial delight and then decided that they didn’t like that much…

Mac eating octopus

Yes that is what you think it is. Octopus. There is no way I could be tempted by those but there were lots of other great things to eat. It was a wonderful time and I have not listened to music that loud for many years, it made me feel rather old. Mind you a few more years and George will be playing it for the whole street to hear and I’ll be yelling at him to ‘turn it down!’

Oh life would not be as much fun without this lot to share it with…
